DESCRIPTION:November 1st — A special day with the living legend\nBruach was honoured to perform at the Shades of Amber Open Mic\, part of the iconic Perthshire Amber Festival created by the legendary Dougie MacLean. \n🏡 Two venues alive with music\nThis year\, the festival featured a brand-new event house\, where Dougie and guest artists performed in a stunning\, intimate acoustic space.Bruach played in the classic Cardney Steading venue\, a familiar and much-loved stage where the audience welcomed us warmly. \n🌟 A brief meeting with Dougie\nWe were lucky enough to meet Dougie in person — even a short greeting carried his trademark warmth and gentle charisma. \n🎶 Our Open Mic performance\nBecause of a later gig in Arbroath\, we couldn’t join the evening jam session.But backstage\, we enjoyed tunes with wonderful musicians\, including (possibly!) someone from Dougie’s own band — a fun mystery that added charm to the night. \n✨ A warm\, inspiring festival atmosphere\nPerthshire Amber always brings together people who truly love Scottish folk music.Being part of that energy\, even briefly\, was a joy and a privilege.

DESCRIPTION:August 23rd\, Arbroath \nOur Bell Rock Festival weekend wouldn’t have been complete without a night at the Commercial Inn — one of Arbroath’s most welcoming pubs and a perfect hub for festival-goers looking for great music and good company. \n \nEven though we weren’t playing on the main festival stage\, the atmosphere inside the pub was electric. The place was full of Bell Rock energy — lively\, warm\, and beautifully chaotic in the best possible way. As soon as we started\, the room burst into dancing\, clapping\, singing\, and laughter. \nAnd of course…we’ll never forget the enthusiastic guest who kept offering Kayo crisps mid-tune 😂She did her best to signal “I’m playing fiddle!!” without missing a single note — a moment that perfectly captured the joyful madness of the night. \nThe mix of locals\, festival travellers\, and friendly strangers created a truly unforgettable gig. Thank you to everyone who packed into the Commercial Inn and shared such an unforgettable evening with us. \nWe can’t wait to return to Arbroath for more festival fun\, more Ceilidh tunes\, and more moments that remind us why we love playing together.

DESCRIPTION:An explosive night of Highland fire\, Harley roar\, and the biggest crowd we’ve ever played for in Aviemore. \nAviemore was alive with the energy of Harley riders arriving from across the country for Blunder in the Glens — and the Cairngorm Hotel filled up faster than anyone could have imagined.By showtime\, the venue was absolutely packed:hundreds of people\, shoulder to shoulder\, every table taken\, every corridor humming with excitement. \nFrom the first tune\, the night took on a life of its own. \n🔥 A fire performer suddenly stepped forward mid-set\, spinning flames in perfect rhythm with our music — an unscripted moment that turned the whole room electric. \n🎶 When we launched into Loch Lomond\, the entire hotel formed a massive circle\, people linking hands\, singing at the top of their voices\, and turning the room into a true Highland celebration. \nAnd then — the most magical coincidence of all: \n🏍️ The owners of the Isle of Skye accommodation where Kayo had stayed just a week earlier suddenly walked in with their Harley group.Meeting them again among a crowd of hundreds felt completely unreal — one of those moments that only happen on the road. \nThe Cairngorm Hotel staff\, already working flat-out for the weekend\, were wonderful and welcoming\, keeping the night flowing smoothly despite the sheer number of guests. \nIt became a night where everything —Harley culture\, fire\, music\, friendship\, coincidence\, and Highland spirit — collided perfectly.A gig we’ll never forget.

DESCRIPTION:This event aims to promote international exchange by blending Scottish and Japanese cultures through the universal language of music and dance. \nScottish folk songs have been beloved in Japan for over a century\, with familiar titles such as “Hotaru no Hikari” (Auld Lang Syne) and “Furusato no Sora” (Coming Thru the Rye) bridging the two cultures. Through this event\, we hope audiences will experience the deep and enduring history of cultural exchange between Scotland and Japan. \nThe Scottish folk-rock band Bruach will deliver a high-energy performance\, combining the raw spirit of traditional folk music with the drive and emotion of rock. Joining them is the Japanese traditional music ensemble Yougakai\, who will perform elegant and powerful Gagaku. A special collaborative performance between the two groups will bring these rich musical traditions together on one stage. \nAudience members will also have the chance to take part in a fun and interactive Ceilidh dance experience — Scotland’s traditional group dancing. The dance will highlight both the unique and shared qualities of Japanese Bon Odori\, with Bruach’s vocalist leading the way and inviting everyone to join in! \nIn addition to Scottish and Japanese folk songs\, the program will feature globally recognized melodies\, creating an inclusive and lively atmosphere where everyone is welcome to sing and dance together.

The entire band felt calm and confident\, turning what could have been a high-pressure live broadcast into what felt like a light\, enjoyable session. \nPersonally\, I was thrilled by the positive feedback from my violin students\, who heard my solo work and reached out with their reactions — a special moment as both a performer and teacher. \nA huge thank you to Donald Makin\, whose skillful and friendly hosting made the conversation flow naturally. DESCRIPTION:Our long-awaited performance at Coach and Horses in Dumfries on April 12th\, 2025\, turned into one of the most unforgettable nights in BRUACH’s journey. \n \nTo our surprise and delight\, several familiar faces from Pitlochry — where we once shared a night with Peat & Diesel — made the trip all the way to Dumfries to see us play again. \nIn a venue where audiences typically enjoy a drink and a short set\, the crowd stayed with us for over three hours\, dancing\, singing\, and filling the room with incredible energy. \nThe support was overwhelming: Nearly £200 in tips and merch sales\, and a generous performance fee from the venue made this night one of our best in terms of both spirit and success. \nFans even asked to take our posters home as souvenirs — a true sign that BRUACH left a lasting impression in Dumfries.
